A737 Dalry Bypass, North Ayrshire

Murform were contracted by a Farrans Roadbridge joint venture to construct two over bridges on the A737 Dalry Bypass in North Ayrshire. The scheme was implemented to improve journey times on the A737 between Glasgow and North Ayrshire and relieve congestion in the town of Dalry.

The first structure is ST02 consisting of 4-metre-high patterned feature abutments, feature wing walls, installed precast beams, permanent formwork, supporting cantilevered parapets and casting an in-situ deck.

ST01 is a 260 metre span double steel girder beam bridge, which was placed by an incremental launch system, due to it crossing the river Garnock, a floodplain and a railway line. Murform constructed 10 2-metre-wide piers up to 14 metres high, along with two elevated abutments and wingwalls. Precast decks were then landed on the girders and an in-situ deck constructed.

The A737 Dalry Bypass opened on the 30th of May 2019, an impressive 7 months ahead of schedule.
