The 3m deep, 600m2 basement in Buckinghamshire is to be used as a car park for the 3-storey apartment block which is to be built above it. Due to the building being very tight to the site boundary, CFA piling was required to the perimeter of the basement before the bulk dig was to be started. Once the piling was completed an RC capping beam was poured lining the basement and the bulk dig followed. Caltite were used as the waterproofing experts, with the basement slab, retaining walls and podium slab all constructed using their watertight concrete mix. The 300mm deep basement slab with nine 750mm deep pile caps were all completed in one pour once the dig was finished. One sided retaining walls were poured lining the basement perimeter using Doka wall shutters and A-Frames. The basement was then fully enclosed with a 400mm thick podium slab to form a fully watertight structure.
