Lake House Property
The construction of a 4m deep, 1000m² concrete basement structure to a large country house, which incorporates a swimming pool, gym and car park area.
The watertight concrete structure consists of a ground bearing basement slab, 4m high retaining walls to the perimeter, internal columns and shear walls, and a ground floor suspended slab capping the structure containing intricate drop beam and mushroom head details. Two sided Doka formwork systems were used to form the retaining walls around the perimeter of the basement. The basement slab includes a large swimming pool and separate hot tub all constructed using waterproof concrete. The varying levels required a pour plan and construction joint details to be discussed and agreed with Pudlo, the waterproof additive supplier. Once the superstructure was completed by the following trades, we returned to complete the ramp walls which curved up from the basement car park to the ground floor entrance of the house. We also constructed an internal in situ RC spiral staircase which is the main feature in the reception hall of the house.
