Dunfermline Flood Defence Scheme, Fife
Wills Bros
The project involved upgrading an old brick culvert to both Forth Street and Ladysmill, within a strict programme to ensure completion during a full stream pumping diversion and road closure on Forth Street. The design consisted of bases up to 1m deep and walls up to 3.4m high, formed to construct an open channel. A further box section constructed by pouring the walls and the deck together, provide an access way to two private properties. Murform working alongside Wills Engineers have provided alternative construction methods where the channel was within close proximity to residential properties. CFA concrete piles and shoring were provided by Wills and Murform constructed the culvert walls with a single sided formwork system.
