Carie Hydro Scheme, Perthshire
Global Infrastructure
The Carie Hydro Scheme is one of the many hydro scheme investments currently undertaken in the highlands, and the second in which Murform are undertaking the RC works for Global Infrastructure. The development consists of a powerhouse that houses the turbine and large thrust block, the tail race and outfall, one main intake and three secondary intakes. Most of the reinforced concrete structures being built are complicated shapes and sizes, with many challenges associated with the sloping and angled formwork along with the heavy pipe work to be cast in. The works are also under tight deadlines for the client to have the scheme commissioned prior to upcoming changes in energy supply contracts to the grid.
