The 2MW Lochy Hydro Scheme is of a medium head design, utilising a single intake high pressure pipeline and twin Frances turbines in a purpose built powerhouse. With a gross head of 126m, a 3.4km long pipe transfers water from the intake to the powerhouse.
Murform are carrying out the reinforced concrete works to the intake, header tank and power house. The intake consists of a 90m long, 2.5m high concrete dam structure with a 12 x 8 x 6m deep intake chamber. The header tank is a 9 x 11 x 5.5m deep tank, while the power house comprises a 300m² base with various walls, plinths, chambers and thrust blocks.
