DS Smith Packaging, Livingston

Murform was directly contracted by DS Smith to deliver civil and building works as part of the upgraded fire protection sprinkler system at their Livingston facility. Acting as a full-service civils partner, Murform provided end-to-end management, including plant and equipment supply, surveying, labour coordination, and procurement of all materials and components.

Scope of Work

The project encompassed a range of activities designed to enhance the facility’s fire protection infrastructure:

  • Site Surveys and Investigations: Conducted comprehensive initial site surveys and investigations of existing services in alignment with the design requirements.
  • Demolition: Removal of three unused buildings and two bunded areas to clear the site for new construction.
  • Environmental Cleanup: Safely removed hazardous materials from the bunded areas, using licensed carriers and adhering to environmental regulations.
  • Decommissioning: Decommissioned unused interceptor tanks and dormant drainage systems.
  • Groundworks and Landscaping: Performed groundworks and hard landscaping to prepare the surrounding area for construction.
  • Construction: Construction of three reinforced concrete slabs to support water storage tanks and a new pump house.
  • New Sprinkler Building: Designed, supplied, and installed a 15m x 7.5m sprinkler building featuring roller doors and insulated cladding.

Murform collaborated closely with DS Smith throughout the project, from the initial concept and design phases to the execution of works. The team ensured all activities were meticulously planned and communicated to stakeholders, delivering the project to the highest standards of quality and safety.
