Amey Plc have enlisted Murform to assist in delivering essential maintenance works on the M8 Woodside Viaduct, situated in the heart of Glasgow. This critical project ensures the ongoing safety and functionality of a key transport route while minimising disruption to the city’s traffic flow.
The works involve temporary propping to take the load from the deteriorating crossheads while keeping the structure live to traffic with certain restrictions to ensure safety.
Murform were contracted to construct large pile cap bases for several of the 23 piers that require propping to facilitate later rehabilitation works to the crossheads. We have also provided some permanent strengthening works to existing piers and pile caps. These works are carried out in a difficult city centre environment, working around live traffic, interface with a live subway underneath and the numerous service utilities nestled around the site.
Delivering a comprehensive full package of labour, materials, plant and equipment, engineering and management for the groundworks and FRC element of the project, Murform is reporting directly to Amey Plc on behalf of Transport Scotland.
We have extended our portfolio to include trench sheet ground support systems, pile cropping, concrete repairs, road protection mats, and supply and install compacted backfill. At present, we are contracted to supply over 300 tonnes of rebar, 3,000m³ of concrete and 11,000m³ of backfill material.
