Liverpool2 is a new ultramodern container terminal for Peel Ports, as part of their £300m investment to enable Liverpool to accept some of the largest container ships in the world. The project is a vital strategic investment for the North of England, as it provides direct trade routes to the vast density of consumers surrounding Liverpool. The terminal was built some 850 metres into the Mersey River, quay walls were built, and sand dredged into the enclosed area.
Murform completed the construction of 126 no, 40m long reinforced concrete foundations where the containers will be stacked and stored for clients BAM Nuttall. We also conducted on-site pre-casting to over 85 draw pits (40 tonnes each), which form part of the extensive electrical systems for the site.
Other works included bases and radius crash blocks for 20-metre and 8-metre lighting towers, precast cover slabs and in-situ ballast walls to draw pits and over 1600 metres of a specialist cable slot channel to run alongside the imposing gantry cranes.
