Construction of a reinforced concrete circular final settlement tank to upgrade the local wastewater treatment works in the town of Tain in the Scottish Highlands. This impressive 13-meter diameter reinforced concrete tank was constructed within a sheet pile cofferdam inside the existing wastewater treatment works (WWTW) and featured an overflow channel surrounding the tank perimeter.
Murform were involved from the design stage and were able to offer our expertise and assist our client Global Infrastructure with the rebar detailing for the tank, and proposed the use of Anchin couplers on the overflow channel, a strategic measure aimed at accelerating the construction of the main walls. Moreover, this innovative solution was designed to facilitate the efficient removal of sheet piles and simplify the subsequent backfilling process.
